Plague is a disease that is rapidly fatal for humans. If left untreated, it kills in 1.5 days, but rest and good treatment can slow the disease to the point where it takes 3 days to kill.

They can happen randomly or can be caused by a quest; quests will warn you if this is an outcome. Infestations can also occur upon entering rooms in an ancient complex; you will get no specific warning for this quest.

Certain diseases have specialized cures. For example, infection in a non-vital part can be cured by amputating or replacing a limb, blood rot can be instantly cured with glitterworld medicine, and gut worms can be treated by replacing the stomach. In addition, a healer mech serum immediately cures any disease.

Tubal Ligation[edit]

The operation is irreversable. Neither of the IUD, Vasectomy and Tubal Ligation will be "healed" by luciferium, bioregeneration cycle and by applying healing or resurrection mech serum.

Herbal medicine has a maximum tend quality of 70%. Unlike other forms of medicine, herbal medicine will spoil in 2.5 years when left unrefrigerated.

Doctors can "self-tend" at 70% effectiveness to treat their own wounds or illnesses. Disabled by default, the self-tend option can be enabled in a pawn's Health-overview.

How to Cure: A doctor tending to the afflicted patient should resolve Gut Worms after 48 in-game hours. Alternatively, administer Healer Mech Serum, replace the stomach, or use the Biosculptor Pod's medic cycle to eliminate Gut Worms.
