2. Phyno – Full Time Job

Source:PhynoFino

FULL TIME JOB is the long-awaited and highly anticipated new album from award-winning Nigerian music icon PHYNO. Produced by frequent collaborators JaySynths (Burna Boy, OneRepublic) and Major Bangz (Davido, Kizz Daniel), with guest appearances from UK legend Chip, global music sensation Burna Boy, Brighton rap star ArrDee, and afroswing ambassadors NSG, the album is a dynamic exploration of personal growth, resilience, success, and love. It sees Phyno unpacking themes of self-confidence, trust, perseverance, and celebration, with his unique blend of indigenous rap, highlife, and afrobeats. The album reflects his journey through the highs and lows of life, offering an introspective look into navigating fame, relationships, and societal expectations while staying true to oneself.

Phyno opens Full Time Job in bold, urgent, and confident fashion with ‘It’s Nothing’ about the hustle and relentless pursuit of success, wealth and legacy. The energetic ‘Back Outside’ featuring Cheque sees Phyno speaking about living life to the fullest and pursuing happiness, while ‘Eyes On Dem’ brings Phyno and UK legend Chip together for an infectious yet introspective offering about self-awareness, trust issues, and dealing with fake love. ‘Do I’ continues in a similar vein, with Phyno brushing off external opinions, societal expectations, and unnecessary drama. The album then delves into more vulnerable themes of love, commitment, and dedication on ‘Deep’, and reflective themes of patience, perseverance and faith in the face of life’s challenges on ‘Nwayo Nwayo’.

Full Time Job continues its celebratory tone on the braggadocious ‘Men Don Show Face’ featuring Africa’s highlife king Flavour, and the praise-filled ‘Grateful’ where Phyno thanks God for His blessings, guidance, and protection, while he boasts of staying one step ahead of his competition on ‘Trouble Maker’. To round out the album, Phyno enlists afroswing sensations NSG for the groovy ‘Pinterest’, links up with afrofusion champion Burna Boy for a remix of ‘Do I’, and pulls in soulful crooner Johnny Drille for the hopeful highlife-esque love song ‘Sweet Karma’, before wrapping up the album with ‘Anthem Ndi Eze’, a perfectly-timed song of celebration that blends themes of success and resilience, with the desire to rise above adversity, with Phyno reminding us to maintain focus and stay resilient.

All in all, the album offers a balance of braggadocious anthems, introspective reflections, and heartfelt love songs, all underscored by Phyno’s signature style and lyrical versatility all over Full Time Job. It’s a celebration of his journey as an artist and a person, filled with messages of strength, resilience, and the importance of staying true to your roots and values while reaching for success. Speaking about the inspiration behind the album, Phyno says, “I’ve always believed that the path to greatness requires sacrifice, determination, and hard work, which will undoubtedly yield positive results. Greatness is not by chance – it’s a ‘FULL TIME JOB’, hence the title of this album. Through this project, I wanted to tell my story, and inspire others on their journeys, and I’m confident I achieved that”.

4. Loose Cattle ft. Patterson Hood – The Shoals

Source:Loose Cattle

The lore of a particular place—its legends and its ghosts, heroes and demons—has long inspired some of the world’s most beloved novels, films, and songs. Some cities and regions universally have athingabout them, attracting those who align with it like a magnetic pull. In the case of the bandLoose Cattle, the long-time New Orleans musicians found their particular bond with another Southeast music mecca: Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Naturally, a song was born from it.

Today, Loose Cattle released a new single from theirupcoming albumSomeone’s Monster—out November 1st on Single Lock Records. Aptly titled “The Shoals,” the tune was the brainchild of Loose Cattle’s Michael Cerveris and his number of uncanny connections to the Northern Alabama town. “I’d been fascinated with the place since I’d first discovered it by way of Lynyrd Skynyrd, my little developing mind blown the day I learned that what I thought was ‘the swamp bus’ was actually ‘the Swampers’ the legendary Shoals rhythm section,” Cerveris remembers. “I was fascinated by so much of the music and lore of the place that I sort of wondered if it really even existed.” After a visit to the Shoals for one of Jason Isbell’s festivals, touring the area’s legendary recording studios, hanging out around music shops, and eventually buying a guitar that would almost immediately give up “The Shoals” in the hands of Cerveris, Loose Cattle found a home at Single Lock Records based right in the heart of Muscle Shoals. “The connections of so many old and new friends seem to cross there,” Cerveris says. “I’m starting to believe that ‘there’s something in the water here’ thing. So of course I had to write about it. I had been wanting for a while to write something especially for and in Kim’s voice, and The Shoals seemed the perfect opportunity to give her a full throated female anthem of her own.”

The result is a dark, slinky rocker, ripe with southern gothic vibes and punctuated with a visit from the Shoals’ modern-era legends, Drive-By Truckers’ Patterson Hood. “Somehow the river naturally became a part of it and I had this idea to ask Pattern Hood to bring his unmistakable drawl to the song,” says Cerveris. His reply: “You mean like a river demon? Man, I’d love to be the voice of a river demon. Sure!” It was the final puzzle piece in a song born of the river itself. “Everything about this track gets my blood pumping,” says Loose Cattle frontwoman Kimberly Kaye. “Michael’s opening riff really has a sense of “place” about it, and the band does all this incredible mood-building; Rene and Doug’s heartbeat, Rurik’s opening the portal our ‘River Demon’ steps through, Jay’s organ underscoring Patterson’s gravely trickster.” But Kaye’s ability to step into the song’s character is what brings the song wholly to life. “If you shut your eyes, for me you can almost see some poor, beaten down, absolutelyover itwoman standing calves-deep in a Shoals waterway with two middle fingers extended to the entire universe while her demons cheer her on. For a dude, Michael did an amazing job stringing together years of my frustrations with the double standards women slam against into a single song.”

Stream or purchase“The Shoals” today, check out the band’s previously-released singles “Joanne” featuring Lucinda Williams and “Further On,” and pre-order or pre-saveSomeone’s Monsterahead of its releaseright here. For more information, please visitloosecattleband.com.

Today, LA-via-Atlanta-basedpop-rock trioKoyalannounce their triumphant, uninhibited second studio albumbreathe in.breathe outdue out February 28 andavailable for pre-order now. Alongside the announcement, the band shares a warm ode to their friendship “bummersong”out nowand its light-hearted, wholesome matchingvideo.

The triumphant, glowing forthcoming project, breathe in. breathe out,is a meditation on allowing oneself to break free of fear, resistance, familial expectations, and other obstacles in the way of pursuing authenticity and creating art. VocalistPoojaPrabakaranis proud to present a project that is both honest and joyful.“I’m so proud of how open, raw, and vulnerable we were in writing this album. It’s sure to make people both dance and introspect!”

It was recorded in Philadelphia at Dr. Dog’s rehearsal space and studio, Headroom Studios, co-produced by guitaristNoahWeinsteinand Philadelphia-based musicianJeffLucci(Mo Lowda & the Humble), and engineered byIanSteinberg, a childhood friend of Weinstein. The group is thrilled to share a body of work that represents who they are today as they chart all new territory, face their fears, take risks and firmly, excitedly introduce themselves.

Weinstein shares,“I’m so grateful to have co-produced this album with Jeff Lucci leading me through new waters, as ‘breathe in. breathe out’ is by far the biggestrecordI’ve worked on.It took a lot of meditation to decide the sonic direction of the album, but working with Henry and Pooja, we channeled our shared experiences and tastes to create a signature rich indie pop sound that we are incredibly proud of.”There was additional production by Atlanta producer and multi-instrumentalistTonyDoudandDesmondMyersand was mixed byHarperJamesand mastered byJoeLaPorta.

The latest taste of the project, “bummer song” is an acoustic, cozy, heartfelt track that came about after a failed exam. Written byHenryWallace(drums) it celebrates the importance of humor and friend’s support in dealing with everyday problems. Written for his bandmates, “bummer song” describes a love that has kept the group tight for years–before and during their move 2,000 miles across the country. Wallace says,“You know that cold, sinking feeling when you step into a puddle in your kitchen and your socks get wet? Either your day is ruined or you laugh it off and put on a new pair of socks — and that’s the ethos of ‘bummer song’.”

The track’s playful accompanying video, directed byWilliamRowan, follows the three bandmates from the beach to board games at home across New York City. Together, the group celebrates their friendship while taking life’s small bummers in stride. Rowan shares,“When I first heard the lyrics, I knew that I wanted to walk the viewer through each and every line as an active participant of the story, almost like a play. I wanted the visual delivery to feel as camp and overtly, satirically literal as the song itself.”

Recalling the chaotic, fun-filled filming day as they bounced around the city and a close call with a water snake, Wallace adds,“The video was all filmed in the 48-hour blitz in NY. We ran all around the city–*literally*–running on the Williamsburg Bridge, then to Coney Island, to a cozy house upstate, and then at a lovely park just outside the city. The raft scenes were some of the most precarious…! There was a dangerous algae bloom in the water at the time, and a water snake came right up to our raft! But we had come all that way, so we weren’t leaving without that opening shot we dreamed up.”

Koyal is made up of best friends PoojaPrabakaran (vocals), Noah Weinstein (guitar/producer) and Henry Wallace (drums)The band formed in Atlanta in their college basement and, fueled by their tight-knit friendship, have since amassed a loyal following with their genre-defying sound, dazzling instrumentation and relatable lyricism. 8. Obongjayar – Just My Luck/Tomorrow Man

Source:OBONGJAYAR

Today, Obongjayar returns with new singles “Just My Luck,” an infectious and dreamlike pop creation, and its b-side “Tomorrow Man” an unflinching and percussive track. His first offerings in over a year see Obongjayar reflecting on themes of loneliness and laziness, respectively, and follow his 2023 collaboration with Fred again.. on “adore u,” a standoutTiny Desk Concertand his show-stopping feature on Little Simz’s “Point and Kill.” Alongside the singles, he shares anUncanny-directed video for “Just My Luck” that sees him performing with a synchronized swimming team. With a touch of cinematic eccentricity and visual identity, leaning into the exuberant side of Obongjayar’s personality, this video provides the perfect light-hearted texture to complement the idiom of the track’s lyrics.

Speaking on “Just My Luck,” Obongjayar shares:

“‘Just My Luck’ is a song about loneliness, about wanting to be a part of a crowd and the fear of missing out. On reflection, not being part of those crowds I so desperately wanted to be, and being absent from whatever it was at the time that would make me feel like the world would end, allowed me to really dig deeper and not only discover myself, but also appreciate my unique self. Because there weren’t any distractions and nothing else to do but be in myself and flesh out the person I eventually became, I also spent that time writing, discovering my voice musically. I guess in some ways using that initial sting as fuel to propel me in self-enlightenment! hahaha”

This summer, Obongjayar launched his party series PARADISE NOW in London. Having previously invited artists and friends like Kwes Darko, James Messiah, Lava La Rue and more, the third installment of the series that takes place later this week will see performances from Obongjayar himself alongside Chi, Mrley, Kwes and Vivendii Sound.

10. Pa Salieu – Epiphany/Crash

Source:Pa Salieu

Gambian-born, UK-raised artist Pa Salieu returns with a double single “Epiphany/Crash.” Across the two tracks, Salieu is at his most unapologetic and introspective as he dives deep into themes of oppression, resilience, and self-discovery while providing an intimate glimpse into his mental state while incarcerated. Produced by long-time collaborators Felix and AoD, the two tracks find Pa calling out systematic oppression with a perspective reminiscent of a modern-day Lennon — unafraid to challenge the establishment and commit to the truth.

Released from his sentence only a month ago, “Epiphany” is a bold and timely declaration, where Pa steps into the role of “the witness and the documenter,”holding up a mirror to a corrupt system and the global injustices that shape our world.

In contrast, “Crash” is a reflection on the past, an exploration of pain and personal struggles from the confines of a prison cell, offering a raw glimpse into Pa’s journey and the adversities he’s faced. With introspective lyrics and evocative visuals, “Crash” paints a haunting portrait of vulnerability, struggle, and the fight for redemption.

Speaking on “Epiphany/Crash” Pa says:While I was in jail, I realised how fortunate I was to always have my thoughts for company. My mind was my escape, and I fell in love with the pen and paper and that’s when I had an epiphany—I have a voice, a platform, and something meaningful to say. Growing up in a Pan-Africanist family, I was raised with a strong sense of history, and I know the power of words. Reading Tupac’s, The Rose That Grew from Concrete inspired me, especially the way he expressed himself through poetry. I love philosophy, history, culture, and I love humanity. “Epiphany” and “Crash” are raw reflections of that, taken directly from my jail notes.

“Epiphany/Crash” follows the success of his explosive return single “Belly,” which marked Pa’s re-emergence with a bang, and was followed by his collaboration with Arsenal on “Allergy,” featured in EA FC 2025 Soundtrack. With “Epiphany/Crash,” Pa Salieu once again proves why he’s one of the most essential voices in contemporary music, merging sharp lyricism with unflinching honesty and unmatched charisma.

Listen to “Epiphany/Crash” above and stay tuned for more from Pa Salieu coming soon.

15. Caroline Romano – Pretty Boys

Source:Caroline Romano

Nashville-based alt-pop singer and songwriterCaroline Romanoreveals her new single, “Pretty Boys,” out on all streaming platforms today. In line with her recent hitslike “Body Bag,” “Doesn’t Matter,” and “Used By You,” “Pretty Boys” cements Caroline Romano’s status as a rising star in the alt-pop scene.

Born from the raw emotions of heartbreak, “Pretty Boys” is both explosive and tender, capturing the duality of love and loss. The track begins with a stripped-back guitar and Caroline’s evocative vocals, building an intimate atmosphere before erupting into a powerful, urgent anthem that mirrors the intensity of heartbreak. As the chorus hits, the song transforms into a dizzying, energetic singalong, capturing the whirlwind of emotions that come with heartache.

“‘Pretty Boys’ is my honest recount of heartbreak,”Caroline shares.“It’s like reading straight from my diary—a dramatic story with a terribly disappointing ending. The song is a cautionary tale about the blurry line between friendship and something more. Just because you’ve kissed him doesn’t mean you should do it again, and just because he looks at you that way doesn’t mean you’re the only one. ‘Pretty Boys’ feels like a high school crush at 22, with all the highs, lows, and semi-committal main characters. It’s a very specific experience, but one that’s universally relatable.”

At just 23-years-old, Nashville-based Caroline Romano has established herself as a versatile artist, effortlessly transitioning between misty-eyed ballads and fiery alt-rock anthems. Since the release of her 2022 debut album,Oddities and Prodigies, and her subsequent 2023 EP,A Brief Epic,Caroline has continued to come into her own as an artist, revealing new layers of her artistry with each release.

Caroline’s music is a masterful study of being a young woman in today’s world. Her songs are raw, untempered, and full of anguish, hedonism, and introspection. Over the past few years, Caroline has also become well-known for her high-energy live performances. Her climb up the live circuit has seen her perform at iconic Nashville venues like The Basement East and The End, and she recently completed her first US tour supporting Grayscale and Smallpools.

16. BoyWithUke – Gaslight

Source:BoyWithUke

Today, the now unmasked singer-songwriter BoyWithUke, aka Charley Yang, released “Gaslight,” another enigmatic new single off of his upcoming album, Burnout, slated for release on November 15, 2024, via AWAL Recordings. Burnout will be available for pre-order on BoyWithUke’s website today at 12pmET at boywithukemusic.com.

“Gaslight” showcases BoyWithUke’s growing ability to skillfully break the standard structure of pop/rock writing. The final thrashed guitar explosion is teased with faux choruses, as BoywithUke gradually detailed an ever-evolving, self sabotaging breakup spiral. Extending the cinematic universe of this era, the music video of “Gaslight” showed BoyWithUke’s doppelganger, the mysterious “Tobi,” haunting BoyWithUke as he tried to come out of his shell and move on from the past.

On “Gaslight,” BoyWithUke said: “’Gaslight’ was a fun song to make. It depicts a lot of failed relationships where it’s really hard to pinpoint who the bad guy actually was. There’s a fun little plot twist at the end of the song that cements this idea.”

In August, BoyWithUke announced Burnout, his final album under the moniker and the first full length project dedicated to his true self after taking off the mask that turned him into an internet sensation. Burnout, a more mature and authentic album filled with symbolism for embracing change, facing your fears and defying metaphorical boxes, is a masterful experimentation of doom rock, grunge, r&b, hip-hop, singer-songwriter, and much more.

On Burnout, BoyWithUke said: “’Burnout’ to me is music that most closely resembles who I am right now. Creating it filled me with so much joy, excitement, anxiety, and pain. It is everything I have left in the tank as BoyWithUke, and I am so proud.”

From the moment his Minute Long Songs on TikTok took off in 2020, BoyWithUke’s life has been moving at the speed of light: Tallying nearly 1.5 billion streams, his breakout single “Toxic” reached Platinum status and cracked Top 1 at Alternative radio, and his performance of the song remained as the #1 most viewed Genius Open Mic video to date. His breakout is followed by multiple Platinum records including “Two Moons,“IDGAF (with blackbear)” and “Understand.” He won the hearts of billions online, playing sold-out headline shows internationally, and winning the applause of Rolling Stone, Billboard, Consequence, Ones To Watch, and many more.

The album title Burnout comes from a passage he stumbled upon from a psychologist: “The notion of burnout (itself a metaphor) indicates that we have used up a limited quantity of something too quickly, because we were burning the candle at both ends.” He admits, “I was feeling tired just because it’s been go, go, go since I started. I read that and I was like, ‘Oh cool. Makes sense. I’m not alone in this feeling.’ There was a period last year where that wasn’t the case. I think I had some real identity issues with who I am. Like am I this extroverted character or am I Charley Yang? But now I think I’ve found a really good balance of work and personal life.”

Charley Yang has been going through many changes in his life while being BoyWithUke, from getting out of his first long term relationship of 4 years, to getting out of a major label deal. Sonically, he’s graduated to producing stadium-level songs that still preserve his singular skill to be vulnerable. He knows that some fans might not immediately be drawn to the new direction of mixing in more electronic elements, the unconventional song structures, and how big it all feels but BoyWithUke is finally in a place to make music for himself. Lyrically, he tackles themes of love, specifically when juggling his own life and fame, letting go of the past, and personal trauma that goes deeper than ever before to show not just who the man behind the mask is but also how he came to be.

“I would love for fans to get a good story out of the album,” says Yang, “Looking back, the entire project was basically written in chronological order after my breakup. I definitely went through a bit of a fuckboy phase, which was quickly followed by sadness and guilt over the end of my first long term relationship, and in the end I was able to heal and change for the better. I also hope this album can help fans grow and change. A lot of my older music was created during some of the worst years of my life, and for people to resonate so well with the lyrics is both good and bad. Hopefully, the fans can also heal and move forward with their lives.”

Earlier this summer, BoyWithUke returned with the album’s lead single “Can You Feel It?” –an indie rock thrill ride that provided a different taste to the upcoming project aside from “Ghost.” Burnout is BoyWithUke’s skillful attempt at experimenting with different sounds and genres, exploring symbolism of the intricacies of self identity. Mask off with no more withholding, this next era of BoyWithUke is set to both explain and elaborate on Charley Yang’s journey as and beyond “the boy with the mask.”

The track marks the first glimpse into BRIII’s upcoming EPLa Madrina, showcasing her distinct sound and unapologetic persona.

“Turks & Cakes” captures a carefree, luxurious vibe, inspired by the serene islands of Turks and Caicos, with a cheeky twist on the title. Today, GRAMMY-winning multi-instrumentalist Nate Mercereau has releasedExcellent Traveler, an innovative solo album on Third Man Records. As a creative artist at the forefront of modern sonic expression, Mercereau used a unique approach to make music with guitar-controlled samples of special sounds–from the hangers backstage at National Sawdust to the studio sessions with artists like André 3000, Shabaka Hutchings, Kamasi Washington, and others, plus his concerts at home with 3-year-old daughter Juniper. WithExcellent Traveler, Mercereau invites listeners to dive into the immersive, multidimensional expressions, and explore infinite palaces of possibility.

The new LP is Mercereau’s version of a solo guitar album where nearly most of it was created by a guitar except for focus track “Infinite Palaces of Posibility / Horse,” which contains samples of André 3000’s flute and a Yamaha EM90 drum machine. The middle section of the piece features a live trio performance with frequent collaborator Carlos Niño and André 3000, whom Mercereau’s currently touring with. Following the New Blue Sun tour, Mercereau will be celebrating Excellent Traveler with a handful of California concerts in December with stops including Los Angeles, San Diego, Ojai, and more.

Standout songs from the album include “Sound Within Sound,” which was featured as KCRW’s Top Tune in September and also samples Carlos Niño and André 3000, plus “For The Highest Quality Listener Testing The Limits” featuring elements of Carlos Niño’s gong and Luis Pérez Ixoneztli’s pan flute juxtaposed with other sounds rearranged into a boundary-pushing track that, as the title suggests, invites the listener to the outer limits of sound ventures.

Excellent Travelerfollows the release of Mercereau’s critically acclaimed recordsJoy TechniquesandSUNDAYS. As penned in the album notes by Carlos Niño, this exquisite album of spontaneous solo composition, nuanced improvisation, and exploratory world creation features living legends Laraaji, Luis Pérez Ixoneztli, Idris Ackamoor, André 3000, and frequent collaborators Carlos Niño and Surya Botofasina. “I feel like I, and we, contain the vastness of all infinite potential, and in that potential, my imagination and feelings about it go beyond words, and it’s all in the music!”Mercereau continues,“My greatest inspirations in life and music come from feeling a sense of infinite possibility, because I do believe that’s what is available in Life on Planet Earth and Beyond. I focus on opening myself up to this freedom as much as I can, and it’s something I maintain awareness of and cultivate in all aspects of my life and creativity. Freedom is very important, I offer it to myself and to others around me. I feel very alive and tuned in when experiencing, hearing, seeing and doing things that remind me that anything can happen.”

Known for his writing and production credits on records by household names such as Jay-Z, John Legend, and Leon Bridges, Nate Mercereau is currently buzzing for his contributions to André 3000’s album,New Blue Sun. Kennedy’s latest entry adds to the momentum garnered from previous singles, with UPROXX praising his “raw emotion and introspective lyrics” on the aforementioned “Wishing It Was Easy,” which was preceded by the ruminative “Who’s Been On Your Mind.” The latter was dubbed a “captivating and love-stricken track” by Wonderland Magazine.

With no signs of slowing down, Kennedy is embracing vulnerability as a means to lay bare his innermost thoughts. In doing so, he’s created a connection with fans and media, and it’s only a matter of time before his sound resonates with a worldwide audience. Breez Kennedy is currently supporting Bryson Tiller on “The Legacy Tour” with dates in Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and North Carolina.

32. RÜFÜS DU SOL – Inhale/Exhale

Source:RÜFÜS DU SOL

Today, Grammy-winning live electronic trio RÜFÜS DU SOLreleased their highly-anticipated fifth studio albumInhale / Exhale, out now viaRose Avenue/Reprise Records. Listen toInhale / ExhaleHERE

Inhale / Exhalecharts new territory for a group who has embarked on one of the most transformative decades of any act in their lane. Written in the throes of big personal changes and an overhauled creative workflow,Inhale / Exhaleopens a more mature, sonically diverseand poetically vulnerable chapter of the RÜFÜS’ saga. The result is a heart-on-sleeve project that sees the band continue to represent a seismic shift in what electronic music can mean to fans, in terms of meaning, emotive power and popularity; songwriters who came of age on the dancefloor and fill stadiums not just clubs.

The album harnesses the universal themes of love and belongingness that have made RÜFÜS the soundtrack of a new generation, but does so with a newfound position of strength not yet heard from the band. The band’s singer Tyrone Lindqvist navigates love from a solid ground, calling out on ‘The Life’:

No matter where the road takes me
There’s nothing in this world
That could break me
Your love is like propane
So go on light the flame for me

It is this sense of growth and maturity that makes this record so compelling and ripe for connection. RÜFÜS offer a window into their own lives in every song, inviting fans to join them as they evolve as individuals and musicians, a mutual journey of introspection on the dancefloor while enjoying the process.

The production ofInhale / Exhalealso signals a new era for the band, combining their continual quest to bind the worlds of organic and electronic with a renewed pool of references from across the dance music landscape. From the ethereal breakbeats of ‘Fire/Desire’ and ‘The Life’, to the hard hitting mid-00’s electro inspired bassline of ‘Pressure’, onwards to emotive club ballad ‘Edge of the Earth’, it remains clear that this is a group as inspired by the club tracks of their youth, as they are capable of melding eras and styles to create truly timeless music.

Inhale / Exhale’s tender balance of sophisticated sound design and emotive songwriting garnered early support from Billboard, Rolling Stone, Zane Lowe, and earned the band their first #1 at Dance Radio with the album’s lead single “MUSIC IS BETTER”. The record was followed by a palette of impactful singles representative of the album’s range “LATELY,” “BREAK MY LOVE,” & “PRESSURE”.

The core of RÜFÜS DU SOL remains the impenetrable connection felt between the band and their fanbase in the live space. Each new show reimagines how far this bond can be pushed, with the immersive stage production of their live performances acting as the fourth member of the band. Their recent headline live set at San Francisco’s Portola Festival and intimate performance on the Sydney Harbour offered a first glimpse of their soon to be announced album tour, while recent DJ sets at Coachella’s Quasar stage and Burning Man tuned fans into the curation and unexpected references that retain their connection to clubland.

RÜFÜS DU SOL will bringInhale / Exhaleto stages around the world next year, including stops at all three South American editions of Lollapalooza as the only electronic headliner, with the band’s biggest Global Tour to be announced soon.

“This record is very special to us. We’re incredibly proud of it and of what it represents for us as a group. We wrote a lot of music together for this project, and decided early on that we were trying to create something more expansive than we have previously shared. It’s crazy to think we’ve been collaborating on this project together for almost fifteen years, to know that we’re five albums deep now and we’re as excited about making music together now as when we started. Shout out to all the fans who support us, this collaboration wouldn’t be possible without you.” – RÜFÜS DU SOL

37. BLOND:ISH & Zeeba – Different Way

Source:BLOND:ISH

Today, BLOND:ISH releases her warm new single, “Different Way,” featuring triple-platinum Brazilian singer Zeeba. The track is out now via Insomniac Records.

Tapping into a feeling of unlimited potential, “Different Way” embraces the unknown with optimism and excitement. In a message that speaks to her open-arms-and-minds community, the song reminds us that even though we all endlessly compare ourselves to others, everyone’s journey is unique. “If you’re late, I’ll be fine / We can catch the next ride / Yeah, we can go anywhere / Different way to get there,” Zeeba sings over BLOND:ISH’s uplifting synths and effortless groove.

BLOND:ISH has woven a thread of positive messaging through her most recent singles, along with masterfully blending a tonic of genres that aim to beam her compassionate transmissions far and wide. While the late summer mood-lifter “Never Walk Alone” (written to serve as a friend in a time of anxiety or loneliness) called on pop, indie, and soul, “Different Way” combines surf rock, synth pop, and house music. BLOND:ISH’s goal is that these songs push the planet closer to “Happy Happy World” (an inclusive place of sustainable unity, respect, and nourishment).

“‘Different Way’ is an experiment in energy, and doubling down on energy with my music from here on,” BLOND:ISH says on the new single. “I met Zeeba the last time I was in Brazil and played Time Warp and we became instant friends. I heard his music on Spotify and immediately sent him an acoustic demo I was working on. I shared the intentions for the song with him and then got to the studio in LA to record his magic vocals on top.”

Born in San Diego, Zeeba spent most of his childhood in São Paulo, where he began composing at the age of 14. Enamored with writing music, he attended the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, where he began to pursue an artistic life professionally. When he returned to Brazil in early 2016, he was introduced to DJ/producer Alok. He collaborated with him on three smash hits, the most popular being “Hear Me Now,” which is currently closing in on 800 million streams on Spotify alone and has reached triple platinum in Brazil and Gold in Denmark in Germany. Zeeba recently performed at the NFL’s first-ever American football game in Sao Paulo, singing the US National Anthem.

38. Dua Saleh – I SHOULD CALL THEM

Source:Dua Saleh

Today the multidisciplinary Sudanese-American artistDua Saleh (they/them)releases their highly anticipated debut album,I SHOULD CALL THEM, viaGhostly International. This new project features a collection of R&B-infused electronic indie-pop songs that portray the spiritual power, resilience, and joy of love found between two star-crossed lovers. Equal parts imaginative and lived-through, it’s a statement record only Saleh could make. Featuring striking collaborations withGallant, serpentwithfeet, Sid Sriram, andAmbré, Saleh shapes their most vulnerable work to date, an apocalyptic narrative informed by environmental anxieties and their experiences as a lover, holding personal truth and hope amidst chaos. Sonically, the album ushers in a new era for the artist whose boundless sound continues to expand, and the result is breathtaking.

I SHOULD CALL THEMis Dua at their most authentic and riveting.“I am being honest with myself with this record, this is my story,”says Saleh, highlighting the outsized role identity and gender expression has played in their process. They see queer love as an act of defiance, be it figuratively, in the album’s storyline, which follows two lovers at the end-of-times, or literally, in the many oppressed cultures around the world. They reference inspirations in popular culture with trans and queer representation such as Japanese manga and various memes like the one the album’s title winks at. They credit Minnesota, where Saleh came of age, for its inclusivity and catalyzing encouragement, and pay homage to the Midwest with the pulsing opening track “chi girl,” which details the playful pursuit of a crush in Chicago.

Collectively, the album captures Dua’s kaleidoscopic range and output, elastic in how they use their voice, making for their most dynamic work to date. It features a brilliant mixture of R&B, pop, rock, electronic, and even unique moments such as a ‘Black Metal R&B’ blowout that perfectly soundtracks themes and messages that are delivered through and rooted in Dua’s foundation as first a skilled poet with close ties to their indigenous roots. Existing between fantasy and reality, the songs are lined with a fierce authenticity, vulnerability and rawness that capture ecstasy and dread personified, catharsis for modern times, and a thrilling example of an artist unafraid and thriving.

The album features production contributions from highly acclaimed Grammy nominated producers such asRogét Chahayed (Travis Scott, Jack Harlow, Khalid, Doja Cat), Biako (Fousheé, Yuna, Jean Dawson), Stint (Carly Rae Jepsen, Kesha),and1Mind (Juice WRLD, Don Toliver, Lil Yachty). It serves as Saleh’s first body of work since their contribution as a co-writer forTravis Scott’sUTOPIAtrack‘MY EYES’(alongsideJustin VernonandSampha), returning to their breakout role in theNetflix seriesSex Education, and taking the cover of GAY TIMES as their 2023 Rising Star in Music honour recipient.

39. Teddy and the Rough Riders – Down Home

Source:Teddy and the Rough Riders - Topic

With theirbrand new release,Down Home, the songwriting duo of Music City natives Jack Quiggins and Ryan Jennings—better known asTeddy and The Rough Riders—have reminded critics, fans, and fellow musicians exactly why they are the outright heirs to the Cosmic-Americana throne. Born in the throes of Nashville’s indie rock renaissance and refined in their rediscovery of Music City’s royal Country lineage, Teddy and The Rough Riders are your favorite country band’s favorite country band; that is if they’re not already the members of your favorite country band.

The eleven-song collection ofDown Home—released today via Appalachia Record Co.—breathes like a band confident in their songwriting and recording, working with momentum already up to speed. The album moves along at an easy clip, with several points where one will unconsciously find themselves reaching for the volume knob to turn up the rippers. At 33 minutes, it’s a record begging for repeat listens where even the down-tempo numbers groove.

Fans canstream or purchaseDown Homein its entirety today atthis link, buy physical copies—both vinyl and CD—here. Following their UK tour and run as Emily Nenni’s backing band, opening for Orville Peck, be sure to catch the last leg of Teddy and The Rough Riders’ headline tour this week in Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia. A full list of tour dates can be found below. For more information, please visitteddyandtheroughriders.com.

More AboutDown Home:Down Homewas mixed and overdubbed throughout their previous album’s release, wrapping in 2023. As is often the case with back-to-back productions, this follow-up takes all the strengths of the previous and builds on them, leaning further into the otherworldly fuzz guitar sounds of Sean Thompson on tracks like “Bullet” and “Hippies”—songs with lyrics that turn country and western conventions on their head—where a bullet is a romance imbued beau rather than a weapon (with Doug Sahm inspired organ) and “hippies make the best country music”—a refrain poking the purist traditionalists in the ribs. Elsewhere, modern melodic progressions and the layered backing vocals of Erin Rae and Emily Nenni service the beautiful and upbeat, “Golden Light,” a song inspired by the social and personal paralysis of the Covid pandemic, finding hope in the eventual return to traveling, playing music and sharing stages with friends.

But as the album title suggests, styles never stray far from the Rough Riders’ traditional country wheelhouse. Childhood imagination goes from bummer to core memories in the back-to-nature reflections of “Catfish Summer” and “Mountain Girl” is a rollicking bluegrass-inflected tune with fiddle (Eli Bishop) accenting the super up-tempo stomp, conjuring an essence akin to alt-trad rockers, The Pogues. There’s classic country territory like the grooving but sober “Bird Has Flown” and “Fast Livin’” is an absolute barn burner, invoking Hank Snow’s “I’ve Been Everywhere” with an extra coat of red paint for every town.

Now, with a growing global fanbase, oshamo is ready to introduce the world to his unique sound – a rich blend of fuji, hip-hop, and amapiano, deeply rooted in his Nigerian heritage.

Arriving on the back of critical acclaim for oSHAMO from the likes of BBC 1Xtra, KISS Fresh, Earmilk, Clash Magazine, and Notion, the First of My Kind EP is a declaration of identity and a reflection of his life experiences. Growing up in the culturally vibrant city of Agege in Lagos, oShamo was immersed in the sounds of fuji and Islamic music, influences that are palpable throughout his EP. Littered between these two songs are captivating tracks like the high-energy club anthem ‘Notorious’ with lyrics that speak to personal growth and ambition, and the autobiographical ‘Won Femo’ that brings us deeper into oshamo’s world, as well as the defiant ‘Alaska’, which sees oshamo standing up for Nigerian migrants in the UK against false narratives and damaging stereotypes.

With First of My Kind, oSHAMO solidifies his position as one of afrobeats’ most promising new talents coming out of the UK, and establishes himself as a truly unique voice in global music who is doing things sonically that nobody has done before. The EP is a bold introduction to an artist who is unafraid to blend his cultural heritage with modern sonic influences, creating music that is both innovative and resonant. First of My Kind is offering an authentic picture of who oshamo is – an artist who bridges cultures, defies genres, and is unapologetically himself. As he continues to rise, oshamo’s debut project First of My Kind stands as a powerful testament to his artistry, ensuring that he is truly the first of his kind, ready to leave an indelible mark and make a lasting impact on the global music scene.
